27 Mussoorie hotels ordered to shut down over pollution

The Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board (UPCB) has issued closure notices to 27 hotels in Mussoorie, including some luxurious and prominent establishments. The move comes after the National Green Tribunal (NGT) criticized the UPCB for failing to take action against hotels that were drawing excess water from springs or had inadequate sewage disposal. Two premier hotels, WelcomHotel Savoy and Jaypee Residency Manor, have also been issued show cause notices and fined for causing environmental damage. The hotels have been given 30 days to respond to the notices.
